SEN Home Tutor
I believe in creating an educational experience that is tailored to the needs of your child and not just to the requirements of the national curriculum.
What we do in the community
We provide mentoring within the community to work towards independence and build upon the confidence and life skills they already have. Myself and my team work together to safeguard each child/young person to access the community
Tutor Support for Children classed as having Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Do not be overly anxious if your child has been classed as requiring special educational needs. Just because a child has been identified as requiring SEN doesn’t mean the child is unintelligent or will not achieve their full potential. SEN children are often very intelligent and creative, but are hampered by not being sufficiently engaged with the learning process. SEN simply means that your child may have to have a more structured and tailored approach to learning to re-engage them in the process.
In identifying your child, the Local Educational Authority, working with your child’s school, l will have prepared an EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan) which will detail what that approach should be. If you engage an SEN home tutor, they will need to see this plan and discuss with you the appropriate procedures to meet the requirements detailed by it. This support is both for the child’s learning and to keep you fully informed of any progress, or other remedial actions required.
How Can SEN Home Tutoring, From Us, Provide You with Support?
After an initial assessment (please see the FAQs page for more details) I will formulate a plan based upon the EHCP and our discussions which will: –
• Support your child’s learning
• Be tailored to your child specifically
• Will meet the requirements of the EHCP, if the child / young person has one
• Will identify your child’s needs and focus on their strengths
• Will be designed to re-engage your child with the learning process
• Address any behavioural issues
• Will contain key stage targets
• Will advise you of progress
• Will advise you of any additional tasks or actions that need to be taken
• And how we may be able to support you as parents/carers and your family
Dominique supported us through the EHCP progress and really understood the struggles we faced. She was very respectful to us and supported us through a very difficult time with our daughter. We received the final EHCP 6 months ago and our daughter is now receiving the correct support.
She loves her new school and Dominique even helped with our daughter's transition into school. Our daughter had been out of education for over a year!
